Sony CDP-CE375 5-Disc Carousel-Style CD Changer

OVERVIEW
Enjoy hours of uninterrupted music with the CDP-CE375. Load up to five of your favorite discs (CDs, CD-Rs, or CD-RWs) and let the changer play each one straight through, or choose shuffle play for a surprise mix from any combination of discs. Either way, you'll be treated to smooth, detailed Sony sound.

The remote lets you adjust the changer's volume from a comfortable seat, and its direct access buttons let you quickly locate specific songs or program a customized playlist of tracks. You also get a front-panel jog dial for quick, easy track selection right from the player. An optical digital output lets you make crystal-clear direct digital recordings to an external CD-R or MiniDisc recorder.

Features

CD-R and CD-RW Compatibility: This unit will play finalized audio CD-R and CD-RW discs.
Disc exchange: You can exchange up to 4 discs while playing a fifth; once the drawer is open, 2 CD's can be changed, then you must use the disc skip button to remove the other two.
Music Scan: The Music Scan feature allows you to listen to the first few seconds of the tracks on a CD until the desired song is heard. Once the desired track is found, pressing the "play" button selects that track for playback. The intro time may be set to 10, 20 or 30 seconds.
Variable Headphone and Line Outputs: The output levels are controlled by remote only (controlled using the line out level +/- buttons). The line and headphone output levels are affected simultaneously, so the line output level cannot be changed without changing the headphone output level (and vice versa). If the variable line output level is changed while recording a CD from the analog outputs of this unit, the recording levels will be affected.
Optical Digital Output: A single Toslink optical digital output is provided for connection to an outboard digital to analog converter, DAT, CD recorder, MiniDisc recorder, or a receiver/processor with a Toslink digital input.
Music calendar: The player has a 20 track music calendar.
D/A converter: The player uses a hybrid pulse digital to analog converter, which minimizes zero-cross distortion.
Random Play: The random play feature is non-repeating.
Peak Level Search: Especially useful for recording, peak search scans the disc, finds the loudest passage, and then repeats it so you can set record levels.
Time Edit: When recording, this feature will create a program that will fit the length of the tape. This unit automatically creates a program, keeping the original order of the disc.

Connections

Rear panel:
  • Line Out: two female RCA jacks (the output level can be reduced up to 20dB using the remote)
  • Toslink optical digital output
Front panel:
  • Headphone output (variable from the remote only)

Good Basic CD Changer
Written By Toby, Austin, TX. on Saturday, March 19, 2011

I bought this changer to put it in the garage so when I work out I can listen to
some tunes. I've had it for two weeks and it's working great. No complaints.
The remote works good. All the other CD changers I looked at were over $100
more. This one was easy on the budget and meets the needs. Thanks
Crutchfield.

The product seems to function as it should, but when I open the tray or close it to add or remove discs or when it changes between discs, the grinding of the gears or whatever is rather severe. It sounds like a cake mixer got caught in it. I'm tempted to open it up and hose it down with WD 40.

Updated changer
Written By HH, Slinger, WI on Tuesday, February 01, 2011

Replaced an older Sony changer with this one, and have been pleased with it thus far.
It's rather light, but will hopefully be robust enough for the usage it receives. Setup and
operation are simple and straightforward. Good basic changer.

Replaced aged 5 disc player that died. Two months old. Excellent price and works well. Sound quality very good on Bose 301 front, center, and rear cubes with Klipsch sub woofer. Crutchfield delight to buy from.
